She's My Mount Rainier
She’s My Mount Rainier
By Carol Glitschka 11/16/05
The clouds play chasing games
Around her frozen crown
The glare of sun reflecting
Causes me to frown.
As I hike the rock strewn trail
Inhale the mountain air
Absorb the beauty all around
It lays my spirit bare
Indian Paint Brush, Lupine
Aromas ride the breeze
Texture and colors surround
The sight and senses to please
I view a rushing waterfall
Fed by melting snow
Flowing cold and crystal clear
To the valley far below
Hawks and eagles soar
Her slopes the climbers scale
I’ve seen nature’s offerings
Beside her many pale.
Born and raised in Washington
My heart holds her dear
She’s a gorgeous mountain
She’s my Mount Rainier
